Jordan T West
Jordan T West is an artist whose lyrics surround the rubbish of relationships, the truth we so often manipulate, speaking of things you may have tried to forget.
Blatant sounds and beautiful melodies combined into an eclectic acoustic sound that will make you remember, even if you'd rather not.
With an honest appreciation for the tragic, yet, beautiful realities of life, this artist will most definitely make you think, question and occasionally cry, while he continues to smile.
His music is skimming the folk scene with some pretty twangs and an overly anxious appreciation for artistic truth.
With clever timing and some ridiculously impressive vibrato, West may force you to tell your friends, familys and foes alike.
He is surprisingly rare with a true passion for sound, a love for love, and a lack of the pretention of this time which some of us attempt to avoid. His life appears elegantly through his lyrics, in all of the confusion, beauty, distress and contemplation which comes along with it.
Jordan was happy to donate a song to all of us. You can download Stillest Hour immediately.
You can get his music from Amie Street and iTunes.
Make sure you visit his MySpace page, too.
Below is a short interview we had with Jordan.
How long have you been singing? when did you decide you wanted to become an artist?
I have been singing and playing for about 5 years now.
I decided that I wanted to become an artist when I went to go see this guy Ari perform, it was the most riveting experience and I said that I wanted to make people feel that same way.
Do you write both lyrics and music for your songs?
Yes, I write both lyrics and music for all of my music.
What does inspire you? what artists did influence you the most?
Most of my inspirations are my friendships and close relationships. As well as that Art really inspires me to be a better musician, as well as other good musicians.
I think that Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon, as well as Kevin Prosche and maybe some Sufjan Stevens
Thanks to the Internet, things are starting to change in the music industry, it seems like there's a lot more space for artists to get out and build their own success. How do you feel about it?
I think that it's wonderful that bands that wouldn't always get exposure due to a poor appreciation for their genre can now get to people that appreciate their music.
The major labels may one day have to compete with this Internet thing.
What do you think about Music Milker?
I checked out the milker and I think that its a wonderful idea and a great setup, I like that you give out free MP3's to get to know a particular artist.
Thanks a lot to Jordan for taking part in Music Milker!
I didn't know this artist so I downloaded his mp3 and I really liked it! Great artist!
